I've always wanted to write a novel. They say everyone has a book inside them. I feel like I've got 15! My problem has always been the organisation. I start, I get lost, I give up.
The last 10 years have produced a number of great novel writing tools but those I've liked have gone and those that left seem... Expensive to say the least.
I've been teaching myself web development since the Covid lockdown and I've got a few great ideas for a novel writing app that will handle the planning, organisation and writing a manuscript. It's time to put my skills to the test.
As a passionate C# developer it's the obvious choice for me to build this app in. In fact this will be a very Microsoft heavy stack. I'll be using Blazor WebAssembly for the front end. This is an emerging technology for websites and a lot of company's are betting on its future. For the back end it'll be a .NET ASP API to handle synching, downloads and file conversions. For data I'm going NoSQL and using CosmosDB which pretty much secures Azure to host the whole system.
Good question. I've got some projects to finish first, but I'm hoping to get more spare time to build this app. This website will go up to remind me to keep going on it, a permanent digital reminder. As I get close to a working prototype I'll post it here. You'll find an email link below if you want me to email you when it's ready for others to test.
